What is Medefine Academy?
The Medefine Academy is an international, award-winning, mentoring programme for
getting into UK Medical School. Students from all over the globe apply to join the Academy. Following application, we carefully interview and handpick the most talented 50 students from all around the world to enter a focused online programme to accelerate their growth and to help them get a place at their desired medical school in the UK.
Top UK doctors, surgeons, and medical students are here to mentor our Academy students not only to get into medical school, but to be within the top 10% of the applicants - this is our promise. A core curriculum covering the core application essentials (i.e. personal statement, interviews, entry exams UCAT, BMAT, Work Experience, etc) will be complemented by an exploratory curriculum aimed at strengthening student’s skills, knowledge, and confidence boosting.
For students who want to start preparation early, 2-3 years before applying to medical school, we have developed the Medefine Young Talent Academy. Based on the exact same principles as the Medefine Academy, students will be assigned a mentor who will help them build on the necessary strategies and skills, as well as achieving excellence with their personal statement, entry exams, work experience and interview preparation.

Therefore, every year we carefully select only 50 applicants to join our online programme from all around the world. Our current members come from a variety of backgrounds (Hong Kong, UAE, Russia, China, Japan, Qatar, Singapore and many others).
We are very proud to consider ourselves not only a mentoring programme, but a community whose aim is to boost students' growth both academically and on a personal level (i.e. developing confidence and independence). To ensure our Academy members stand out from the applicants we also offer work experience placements in London (in person and/or online virtually) and a community of likeminded students who all share the same goal - to become tomorrow’s doctors!
The Application Process
Our Medefine Academy and Young Talent Academy are defined by excellence, uniqueness and dedication. Therefore, every year we carefully select only 50 applicants to join our online programme from all around the world. Our current members come from a variety of backgrounds (Hong Kong, UAE, Russia, China, Japan, Qatar, Singapore and many others). With students getting offers form medical schools such as Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London, we are confident that our Academy members grow from students to successful future doctors.

What's included in the Medefine Academy?
Our Core Curriculum sessions are carefully designed to give our students the best tips & tricks regarding their medical school application. Our sessions, delivered by UK doctors, surgeons, and medical students, reveal the strategies commonly used by the top 1% applicants to ensure our students stand out from the crowd. Our personalised sessions (both 1-1 and group sessions) give students the chance to ask questions, learn from their mentors
Alongside the Core Curriculum, the exploratory sessions are aimed at building a very strong foundation for the students'a application journey. Students will get to explore medicine from all angles, build confidence and get into the mindset of a doctor though sessions covering medical ethics, communication and evidence-based strategies for effective studying delivered by world-renowned doctors. From the start, our students receive a personalised, comprehensive 12-18 month timetable based on their profile and achievements.
Medical School Application from A to Z
Our mentors, doctors, surgeons and medical students will give you the best tips and tricks commonly used by the top 1% applicants to make sure you'll stand out from the crowd. Through personalised session based on your strengths and aspirations, we'll cover Personal Statement, Medical School Interviews, Entry Exams (i.e. UCAT and BMAT).
Psychometric testing prior to joining our family ensures we can match you to the perfect mentor based on your university preferences and aspirations. Your mentor will guide you with the right advice and tools until you receive your offer.
Leadership skills development
Joining a community of medical students and doctors that will get you involved in projects at top institutions throughout the UK and world, including NHS England, UCL, Great Ormond Street Hospital, etc
Filling your work experience gaps
Understanding your strengths and weaknesses following a consultation with one of our admission advisers flagging up the work experience placements that you need. From shadowing renowned healthcare leaders within the NHS to working with researchers at top institutions, our unique work experience placements will certainly make your application stand out.

The doctors' mindset
Learning how to think like a doctor is essential to help our students become more effective and maximise their time while studying. the Harvard University module on 'Studying smart' that we employ uses evidence-based strategies to help our members get into the mindset of a doctor. First think like one, then become one.

Students' individual projects
All academy students are supported to develop their own individual project based on their interests. We empower our students to initiate and conduct their projects from start to completion. Projects can range from scientific research, public health initiatives, charity or volunteering. Every year we also provide a set number of existing projects for students to get involved. Previous students have conducted projects with NHS England, Harvard Medical School, international charities and local public health awareness campaigns.
Tamar has joined the Young Talent Academy (3 years in advance), gaining access to virtual work experience placements in surgery, paediatrics, and several other medical disciplines as well as receiving mentoring and tutoring on a variety of topics relating to her medical school application. As part of the Medefine Education Academy, Tamar has developed an international organisation to support the delivery of sanitary products to women in Beirut, Lebanon, following the recent explosion. Tamar’s enthusiasm and project will nevertheless help her stand out from the crowd during the application process.

By joining the academy, Yi-Han has had the opportunity to join a wide range of seminars, volunteering activities, and projects to support her local community and boost her personal statement and application. Her favourite work experience placements have been surgery with Dr Navin and Paediatrics with Dr Bogdan. Yi-Han has scored highly in her entrance exams and will be applying to medicine in October 2020. Through the Academy, Yi-Han has also put together a book entitled “Oh! It’s cancer” aiming to help children aged 8-14 who have been diagnosed with the disease to understand cancer better. This is an award winning project which has made her application stand out from the crowd.
